Downed tree causes campus-wide power outage

A tree that has fallen on power lines.

1:30 p.m.: Sometime after 12:30 p.m., the power went out across campus. This was caused by a tree that fell onto power lines along Radcliffe Avenue near Myers Park Traditional School. As a result, all remaining afternoon classes have been cancelled. There is currently no estimation as to when the power will be back across campus, although a power truck and team has already showed up to begin repairing the damaged lines.

This story will be updated throughout today.

5:00 p.m.: Classes have been cancelled for the evening due to the ongoing power outage, and all campus phones are inoperable. Duke Energy estimates the power will be back at 5:45. Over 1,000 houses around Queens have been affected by the outage.

6:00 p.m.: Power was restored at around 5:52 p.m. to all buildings on campus.
