“Keeping Up with the Joneses” had all the potential of being a great comic spy movie. However, even with its array of popular actors, the movie fell short; the buildup was too long and it wasn’t memorable.
When new neighbors move in, Jeff and Karen (played by Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher) are immediately suspicious. They’re a little too perfect. When they find a hidden microphone, their suspicions are confirmed. The two end up undercover themselves in the middle of an international arms deal.

A lot of the scenes that are supposed to be funny felt more like after thoughts. The cast was the biggest selling point of the movie. Galifianakis, plays the bumbling hero; a role that we are used to seeing him in, and Fisher makes us laugh with her failed attempts at going incognito.
While the two had their moments, it seemed like they were holding back. They’ve both been in funnier roles, so this one didn’t stand out. This was a missed opportunity for a hilarious spy movie that a star-studded cast couldn’t quite make up for.
